Symbiont World - so close to the truth

A new Piece for symbiont world, part of a bigger narraitve I'm working on:

Bereneko steadied her robotic manta ray as the fog parted, revealing a floating island crowned by a derelict research facility. Its frame, draped in vines, hummed with mystery. Her heart raced—this wasn’t on any chart. As the mist cleared, a rusted entrance gaped like a maw, beckoning. Whaleys scanner flickered, picking up faint energy signatures inside. A whisper of static from her transmitter hissed, “…detected…” Bereneko’s breath caught. Something of immense value could be lyiing dormant in the abandoned lab. Curiosity battled caution. She gripped her gear, stepped onto the island, and approached the entrance, pulse pounding.
